    Secret Intentions [Closed] Header%203_zpszxwrwqpx

Two weeks after her arrival and J. was able to say she was not a bad choice. Her mannerisms were always gentle. She had a passion about her that most women did not seem to have, and if they did have it, J. did not care enough to pay attention the way he was now. The atmosphere around the Saionji Manor had fallen into a peaceful aura that it had not had in a long time. He wondered if he was the only one that felt it, but would never ask. There was just something about her. There was something about that woman that made him keep looking. That warm smile was slowly thawing the ice that had formed around J.'s heard over the years. Even though he did not express any of this, he assumed Kazuo had been able to tell. For one, he was harder on his squad. Their training had become more difficult because he realized that he was acting different. He had to keep up his reputation.

Over these two weeks, J. was rather stressed out, but he never felt it when she was talking to him. Never before had someone been able to ease his tension like she could. His paperwork was just piling up. He had multiple Division transfers to get through. Damage costs for a recent hollow fight had his Division working double time. Beyond that, he had been receiving letters from the Ishino Family about Maaya's whereabouts. This was something he kept in a locked drawer on his desk, where she could not get in to reading them. He had sent them confirmation of her arrival and explained her situation days ago. He knew they got the message, so why exactly were they asking about any minor changes in her day to day life? With the little amount they cared about her before, it was apparent to J. that these people were only interested in why she was still here. Even their eldest had not been invited to stay.

On the twentieth night, J. said his goodnight to Maaya like he had done every night. Well, it was more her coming to his room and taking care of him. She still had the demeanor of a servant wife, which was not something he'd complain about. Like everyone else, Maaya knew her place. If she wanted to rise from that place, he would help her if he can, but she had to understand where her current place was. And right now, her current place was in the next room in the bed he had carefully chosen to comfort her. On the other hand, J.'s current place was laying in his own bed. He sunk into the comfort of his mattress and rolled onto his side like always. Dressed in his black plaid striped pajama pants, his robe tossed over the bottom of the bed, J. rested his head lightly against the pillow and closed his eyes. Within just a few minutes, the man's breath calmed and he fell into a much needed sleep.

Maaya loved the night. Oh she enjoyed the subtle sounds of the nocturnal animals with the gentle breeze that day could not imitate. Night had a completely different feel to her. Night was not some time of day. Night was a feeling. It was calm, and it was beautiful. It reminded her of her own self in some ways.

Maaya loved having a room next to J's. Her room was comfortably blue, and it barely changed color at night. That was what she enjoyed most about it. It only deepened its blues, and it made it so easy to sleep in. She could spend eternity in this room, so she thought. She bade J good night and slid the door that connected their rooms closed. She really enjoyed that. Once it was closed, she undressed.

Maaya looked in the mirror at her body. She pinched at her stomach, noticing she had put on a few pounds. It was from eating a regularly scheduled meal, she assumed. She looked at other parts of her body, and only one thought came through her mind, and she whispered it to the mirror. "I wonder if Lord Saionji finds me attractive..." She shook the thought out of her head, and dressed herself for sleeping. She wore a silk sleeping kimono, a pair of thin blue panties, and that was it.

A few minutes before falling asleep, Maaya did exit her room and went to the bathroom. She used it, and she returned to her room. As she entered, she undid the braid in her hair. "Good evening, Maaya." A rasped voice, deep and with a slight English accent spoke from the shadows beside the door. "Wha—?! Lord Sai—" "Bakudō 15: Shibireyubi" The man, now in full view, interrupted her.

Maaya fell limp, her body sprawled on the floor. She could move her eyes, breathe, but that was it. She was unable to talk. The man, who was a hair under six feet tall squatted down beside her. He had brown hair that came to just above his ears, and it was gelled back almost too well. And he had a grin, an absolutely evil grin, on his face. "Hello, Maaya. I assume you remember me?"

Maaya did. Her eyes widened in fear and she tried to scream. Nothing. "Ah, you do! Oh it warms my heart that you still remember me." His voice had a slight hint of sarcasm. His name of Ishirou Heihachirou. He was a son of a lower noble house. Well, former noble house. They had fallen out of favor ever since their patriarch was found guilty of smuggling young women.

Ishirou was set to be the next head of the family. He and Maaya had met once before. Maaya was to be given to him as a wife years ago. But the Heihachirou were cast out before it was finalized. Ishirou smiled, his teeth reflecting the moon coming in from the window on the far side of the room. "Even though all this time has passed, Maaya... You're still beautiful."

His hand traveled to her mouth, then down to her breasts, where he squeezed. Her eyes widened again, a small gasp coming out of her mouth. "Even more beautiful than you were..." He pulled out a knife, and before Maaya saw the glint of steel, her kimono was cut away. She lay there, practically naked. "Oh, Maaya, you left so little in my way. How thoughtful."

Maaya saw him, and she wanted to run. She wanted to leave. She wanted to... twitch. Maaya felt her finger twitch. She could move one finger, just barely. Her will going against this man's. And her will was winning, slightly. "As you know, I was promised something long ago. And, to my knowledge... that promise..." The knife cut away one of the legs of her underwear, and the panties flew away with a grab from the man. "Well, it was never revoked."

Maaya's eyes darted around. "And so, I will be taken what was promised me, Maaya. I hope you understand." He winked at her. And then he dropped his pants—a dark pair of hakama tighter than those the Shinigami wore. Maaya did not stare. She looked around. She could feel bits of her body becoming more and more responsive. And she knew why. If she didn't do something, this man was going to take away something she was promising for J. "He can't do that... That's not... his to take..." She heard "take" escape under her breath.

As the man knelt down to begin, Maaya inhaled. Ishirou smiled, thinking it was to prepare herself. But no. Maaya burst her will outward. She clenched her fist, and then screamed. Tears welled in her eyes as her will physically tore through Ishirou's. But more than that... she was terrified. "LORD SAIONJIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!" Her voice cracked at the end, and Ishirou looked at her in confusion. She had broken through his Kidō somehow.

The comfort of one's bed should never be disturbed by one who was not welcome. The sanctuary that is one's bedroom should never be tainted by intrusion, especially one like this. This invasion was unexpected and  unforgivable. As J Saionji lay sleeping, he began to stir. Even in his dreams, something felt off. Something was desperately trying to wake him. These few moments of slumber felt like an eternity, and not in a good way. There was a moment where, if someone were watching, they could see J.'s eyes open slightly, but he fell right back to sleep. These few moments, J. was completely unaware of the horrible event happening not fifty feet from his current location. He turned over in his bed to face the double doors that lead into Maaya's room, as if something was guiding him in that direction. And as if on queue, that heart jerking scream echoed through the halls of Saionji Manor.

J.'s eyes shot open, the ear piercing scream throwing his heart out of rhythm as his eyes immediately met the two shut doors that separated him and Maaya. He rolled himself over and up onto all fours, pushing himself off of the bed and to the door. He threw the door open as quickly as he could and took two steps in before freezing. What he saw angered him in a way that he could not comprehend. Maaya was laying on her back and he could tell she was still under partial effected of a certain Kidō. Then there was this man standing over her with his pants down and pointed a little too close to the innocence that Maaya still carried. There was a pause, a two second pause from when J. entered the room for him to have everything process correctly in his mind. The moment that happened, J. took two steps forward and before this man had the ability to react, his life had taken a very, very hard turn.

J.'s entire hand enveloped this man's face. His grip on the man's head tightened as he pulled the half-naked bastard into the air. J. took a step to the left away from Maaya to make sure she would not feel any part of this. Once he did that, as if this man were absolutely nothing, J. brought the man up a bit more and then slammed his head as hard as he could into the wood below. The wooden floor cracked beneath this man's head and J. only pushed him further. The man yelled out in pain as J. pulled him from the newly made hole and slammed his head back down in a new spot, creating yet another hole in the floor of Maaya's room. Picking the man up again, J. rushed through one of the paper door walls and used shunpo to force this man into one of the Seireitei's walls. He then let the man fall, but knelt down next to him and proceeded to repeatedly punch the man in the head and torso. He did not stop.

"What the blue blazes..." Kazuo Saionji was not sleeping naked tonight. Thankfully. It was a slightly cooler night, so he had pants and a robe on. And although he sprawled out over the entire king-sized bed, he was quickly able to compose himself. He grabbed his Zanpakutō, made sure his hair was presentable with a quick pass through the mirror—and as always, it was.

Kazuo saw no fire or anything, but he did know the scream. He knew where it was coming from. He was worried about the little girl. He gathered energy beneath his feet and the next instant, he was at her door. He slid it open in a hurry. And he saw Maaya, sprawled there, naked. He also saw the holes in the floor and the giant hole in the wall."What the fuck..."

He ran over to Maaya, and slid off his robe, placing it over her. "Maaya, are you okay?!" Maaya's eyes glimmered with tears as they welled up. "Lord Saionji... he's..." Maaya pointed out the window, and saw J standing over someone, and his fists going back and forth. "Holy shit..."

"J!" Kazuo yelled out as he shunpo'd through the opening. He got there quick enough to stop the next punch. He grabbed J's arm, and held it there. If his brother tried to do anything, Kazuo would be ready with a non-lethal push away. "J, it's Kazuo! It's Kazuo!" He called out to calm his brother down from harming him. And all the while, Kazuo was keeping his brother restrained.

"J, what the hell happened? " He asked once his brother was calmed a bit. Kazuo let go of his brother, and Ishirou tried to speak. "Ahh..." Kazuo's blade lept out of its sheath and was at Ishirou's throat. Kazuo's eyes were now the color of lightning. "Don't you dare try to fucking move you fucking piece of shit." Kazuo swore, something rare for him. "J, I'll take care of this. You go to Maaya." He looked to his brother with a pleading look. That woman needed him.

One. Two. Three. Four. One. Two. Three. Four. One. Two. Three. Four. As long as the man was breathing, J. kept throwing full forced punches at him. This was J. ready to keep punching until he could no longer lift his arms. This was J. in a rage that even his brother had never seen him in before. This bastard laying still as J. destroyed him had snuck by his guard, snuck into Maaya's room, used a Kidō to restrain her, and was going to violate her. This man thought he had the right to take something like that from Maaya? He thought he could come in here and ruin her? Not on J.'s watch. With each punch, J. felt a new bone crack. Blood began splattering around, but mostly on his clothing, arms, and fists. He didn't hear his brother call out his name. He heard nothing right now. He only saw this disgusting trash laying in his yard and the thought of Maaya laying with this bastard between her legs.

    J. was about to throw a final punch when his arm was suddenly stopped. He froze and turned his head toward who dared stop him. J.'s eyes were wide, almost as if he had snapped and gone mad over this. His pupils were slightly dilated as well. Seeing his brother there, J. stared threateningly at Kazuo and went to pull his arm away from Kazuo so he could continue his barrage of punches at the dirt-bag on the floor. Kazuo kept restraining him, trying to talk him down out of this rage he had fallen into. After a while, things seemed to reappear around him and he was calming down. "I'm fine. I'm FINE." J. pulled away from his brother and just stood there trying to catch his breath. He had never been so angry in his life. He could not remember a moment that could compare to the anger he felt then. And when Kazuo asked what happened, J. could not help but send one final kick in to break Ishirou's ribs.

"He... He was..." J. shook his head. He couldn't say it out loud. It only brought the anger back. He felt the situation was a little obvious anyways. Kazuo got it because the moment Ishirou tried to speak, he found a blade at his neck. Seeing Kazuo share his anger, J. felt himself calming a bit more. If the anger was split between the two of them, maybe they'd be in better control, because a moment ago J. had almost no control over himself. "I want him dead." J. told Kazuo since he trusted his brother to take care of this. When J. looked over to Maaya, he almost couldn't look at her. He knew he needed to be by her side right now. That was what a good man did. Furthermore, that was what a husband did. He had to be there for her, to protect her. He nodded to his brother and walked over to Maaya. As he got there, he saw a few of the servants standing in Maaya's doorway, wondering what happened.

"No! Out!" J. shouted toward them and shunpo'd forward to close the door, "To bed with all of you!" He stood there staring at the door for a moment and then looked back to Maaya. He stepped over to her with a darkened expression, one no one had ever seen. He leaned down and swooped her up into his arms without asking permission and carried her off to the bathroom. They were both a mess; their clothes were ruined, either by blade or by blood. He knew he was getting blood on her as well, but that's alright. He set her down on her feet and turned on the shower. "I need... to bathe. I want you right next to me at all times. You will sleep in my room from now on... Close your eyes." he told her and then stopped. He was doing this wrong, very wrong. He looked at her, took a deep breath, walked over to her, picked her up, set her on the bathroom counter, and wrapped his arms around her. He pulled the woman in close, laying his chin on top of her head. He did not let her go.

"He will be dealt with." Kazuo made sure not to agree to what J had ordered him to do. Kazuo kept the blade just a flick away from cutting the man's head off. And Kazuo's hands were steady. He wasn't shaking, but he could tell his brother would be. Not in fear, but in anger. But Kazuo knew. Kazuo knew who needed J more than anything. Maaya needed him.

Maaya was barely getting to the point to be able to sit up when J came in and barked an order for the servants to leave. She winced as he yelled. "Lord Saionji..." She whimpered, not really noticing the robe draped over her. Tears were starting to flow down her cheeks. As he reached down, she winced again. She didn't know what to expect. But what she got wasn't anything she'd ever think would happen. Maaya curled up as she was carried.

Maaya was shaking the entire way to the bathroom. She gripped tightly onto J's arm. She didn't want to be let go. She didn't want to have him leave her. He saved her. He protected her. He was her world right now. So when she was set on the floor... her body nearly gave out on her. He spoke things to her. But her ears were having trouble getting the message.

And then, he picked her up and set her on the counter. And brought her in for an embrace. Her arms curled in, her hands placed upon his well-toned chest. "My Lord...." was the only thing her voice let escape before she broke. Maaya began sobbing loudly. She leaned into J. She was scared. She felt violated. She was terrified, and she was about thirty other things that there wasn't a word for yet.

But dammit, J was there. After about ten seconds of sobbing, Maaya stopped shaking. But she still kept sobbing. It was about two minutes worth of her getting it all out before it began to subside. Her eyes were bloodshot and her cheeks puffy. She didn't pull away from him as she sniffled. "L-Lord Saionji... I'm sorry you had to save me... If only... If only I had sensed him... I..." Maaya began to whimper again, wondering what she had done wrong for this to happen. There were a hundred things that could have been her fault. But this was not.

He was getting blood all over her. This was why he wanted to take a bath and get this disgusting substance off of him, but she needed him more. As he stood there, he just held her. He kept her close, practically melding her body with his own. He let her cry as long as she wanted. When his shaking stopped, which was soon after he began holding her, he could feel her body trembling. She was so frightened; he could not imagine how much so. The only thing he could do was be a good man and be here for her. He did not budge until she felt she was ready to let go. For a brief moment, J. was pleased to hear what she had called him. 'My Lord' meant quite a lot. She had accepted her position as part of the Saionji. He understood this as her not planning on leaving. She really seemed to want to be here. She seemed to care about him. Knowing these things only made him hold onto her even tighter.

When she was calm enough to pull away, he looked down to her with a dullness in his eyes. Maaya apologized to him, which caused a spark to light those eyes back up again. He closed them for a moment. He kept silent and then opened them again to stare intensely into her eyes. "Do not ever apologize for something like this." his voice was almost threatening, "You have done nothing wrong, and you damn well better know it. If anyone should have sensed him, it should have been the Captain not twenty feet from your position." That stopped J. for a moment. Why didn't he sense him? Why didn't this man's presence wake him up sooner? He shook of the thoughts and shrugged it off as if he had just been in a deep sleep. Taking a deep breath, he slowly let it out to relax a bit. "Come." he said and wrapped an arm around her waist. He slid her off of the counter and set her on her feet.

"I'm going to use the shower, so you can use the bath." he said as he pulled Kazuo's robe from her. He chose not to point out the blood she now had all over her and also chose not to stare for too long when he got a clear view of her front end. He kept a straight face, but decided to do something to hopefully help her feel better. "Beautiful." was all he said before he walked over to the separate bath and turned it on. The bath filled up quicker than normal one's, so she'd be able to jump in within a minute of him entering the shower. As the bath filled, J. stepped into the shower with his pants on. Yes, he was odd and keeping certain parts of himself hidden from her. As he bathed, he thought whether that was unfair or not. He had tossed his pants out into the laundry basket before they'd have gotten completely soaked. Once he was done, he reached out and grabbed onto a towel that was hanging on a rack.

He turned off the water, brought the towel in, and wrapped it around himself. As he stepped out of the shower, he looked over to Maaya to see if she was done. If she was, he'd step over to a cabinet and pull out a towel for her. He walked over to the tub and look away while holding it up for her to walk into. "Come on." he helped wrap the towel around her and then lead her back to his bedroom. He was more alert than he usually was at this point. He almost felt paranoid, but after what had just happened to her, who could blame him? He wanted to watch out for her. As they made their way to his room, they stopped by her room to pick up her sleepwear. Once they were in his bedroom, he quietly dressed himself in pajamas and made sure not to look toward her as she dressed. Once they were dressed, J. looked to her with an expression that just showed shame. He sat down on the bed and asked her to sit down next to him. Once she did, he lowered his head and closed his eyes, "I'm sorry..."

Maaya only nodded in response to his threat. She would never apologize for that sort of thing again. She just remained a little silent as he spoke, and then nodded and sniffled as he finished. Maaya felt her hands shift a little nervously. She stood only with J's help, and she fell into him as she was helped off of the counter. She blushed and pulled away. "S-sorry, my lord." She said it again. She didn't even notice she had said it.

She winced as J began to remove the robe, but he was not quick about it. In fact, it seemed like he was taking his time. She hurried along at her own pace, slipping out of it and covering only one area—that which was almost harmed. And J complimented her before turning to fill the bath. "T-thank you." She half-whispered, her face very red. J did not undress, but she did not mind. Well, she did mind. It was weird to shower with pants on.

Maaya spent most of the bath scouring her body. It was mainly her breast that he grabbed and the other areas he had touched. But she enjoyed the warm water as well. It felt good compared to the cool breeze she had felt. And Maaya stayed in that water until she heard J finish. She hurriedly finished her bath, and pulled the plug on the drain. She covered the same area as before, and quickly wrapped a towel around herself.

Maaya hesitated going into her room, but she did after inhaling and exhaling three times. She grabbed new sleepwear and her Zanpakutō and returned to the hallway. She dressed in J's bedroom, and immediately informed him that it was okay for him to look. Granted, she would be okay with him looking at any time during that. Her outfit was a little more form-fitting than before. It was a two-layer kimono, but it showed her legs off better.

Maaya then sat as he instructed her to. And then... he apologized. "My lord... Please," her eyes looked at him as if she were begging him, "do not apologize. You asked me to do so, and I ask you to do the same. This was not your fault..." Maaya placed both of her hands on his, and turned to him. She had a weak smile on her face. "Do not pain yourself over this. For my sake, please." If he didn't agree, he didn't agree. But Maaya hoped he would. "Lord Saionji... it is late at night. Shall we retire to sleep once more?"

"This was my fault. Someone at my level should have sensed him." J. replied in frustration, clenching his fists tightly, "He slipped passed my guard and me, and that Kidō he used on you... How did you break free?" There was a hint of J. being impressed with her hidden among his voice. He had been impressed with her answers from his interview, but not enough to have it leak into his tone. He looked down to her hands as she placed them on his. He found himself noticing the size difference first, but took note of how soft hers were. This was the first time that she had reached out to touch him without permission or being told to. Was she becoming more comfortable with him? Or was what happened here making her act oddly? Either way, he turned his hand over and wrapped it around both of her petite hands. He appreciated her attempts to comfort him, but he was not the one who needed it.

"I can promise nothing. What has happened here is unforgivable." J. said and took a deep breath and raised his head. He was not forgiving himself for this until he got more information. Someone of Ishirou's skill level should not have been able to sneak passed the guard, get so close to Maaya, and be able to use a Kidō like that without someone like J or Kazuo noticing first. It should not have taken that scream. That scream was something that echoed in his mind and he was going to remember for a long time to come. Maaya gave the option of retiring to bed, but J. wondered if he would be able to sleep. Looking ot her eyes once more, J. put his thoughts to rest and nodded. "Let's sleep." he agreed and slid backwards until he was back on his side of the bed. As she would move to lay down, he'd put his arm there so she'd 'accidentally' lay on it and then coil it around her, pulling Maaya into him, "Goodnight."

In the morning, J. was extremely careful about not waking Maaya up. The sun shined into his room a little brighter, making him realize he slept in a bit longer than normal. He remembered waking up once before, seeing Maaya still in bed asleep, and then just returning to his slumber. Now that he had officially woken, he gently slid his arm out from under her and quietly sat up. As he woke, his memories of the night before came back. The anger did not follow, but he stood up and walked over to the back doors to his room. There were four doors in his room: one lead into the main house, another to Maaya's room, another to the bathroom, and the final to the back garden. It was the one to the garden that he had taken and seen the wreckage from last night. A few of his servants were out there trying to clean up the blood. Seeing that, J. wondered whether Kazuo got any information out of him.

In fact, that was something he realized he should ask Maaya. He did not want to bring up the memories of what happened, but to get the information he needed he would have to. He sat on the wooden porch and observed the garden, keeping the back sliding door open, until Maaya woke up. Once he heard her awake, he'd stand up and step back into the room, closing the door behind him. "Good morning, Maaya." he said and sat down on the bed across from her, "Were you able to sleep decently?" He had doubts that it was a 'good' sleep after last night. He had no idea what her dreams were likely filled with. Once she answered, his face hardened a bit. "I understand it'll be hard, but I need you to answer some questions." J. told her in as calm a tone as he could, "I need to know what that was about. I could tell that he was targeting you, not some random woman in my home. Did you know him?"

Maaya herself didn't know how she did it. "I'm not sure, sir." But then she remembered what she had thought the moment she was able to scream. "I think... I had something giving me a bit of determination." Maaya's eyes shone up at him, knowing exactly what it was. But she didn't want to tell him. She'd answer if he asked. But the answer was simple. It was the fact that was not his to take—it would be Lord Saionji's.

Maaya's smile wavered for a moment, and she gripped his hands tighter. She knew he wouldn't be able to promise something like that. But she still wanted him not to blame himself. Maaya also knew, at that moment, not to push it any further. She wanted to tell him it would be okay, and hug him. Unfortunately, that was way out of line for her. And although it might have seemed like something she was doing to calm J down, it was helping her out far more. She didn't want to see the man she had fallen for so down on himself.

Maaya suggested bed as a way to drop the subject. Maaya's eyes were tired and still bloodshot. But they still shone. She wanted him to sleep so he could relax. And she wanted to sleep so she could relax. J nodded and agreed. He was the first to lie down, and Maaya had finished lying down when she was rolled into J. Maaya's face went as red as the blood that stained the room next door. Tears began to well up, and a smile curled onto her face. Maaya curled into him a bit more, making herself comfortable beside him. "Good night, my lord."

It didn't take long for Maaya to fall back asleep. Her mind was still racing, but J being right there, his arm around her, put her mind to ease at least for the time being. Maaya never stopped smiling while she was asleep, although her forehead did end up resting against his shoulder during the night. Maaya did not dream that night. That was probably a blessing. There's no telling what kind of nightmare she may have dreamt up at that time...

Maaya stirred a little when J removed his arm from around her. She made a whine as if she were telling him to put it back. But she didn't wake up just yet. She continued to sleep, still curled up like she had been before. Maaya stirred awake eventually though, and she slowly rose in his bed. It took her a moment to remember where she was, and she inhaled sharply once she realized why she was there.

J stepped into the room, and Maaya's slack back straightened in attention. "A-ah... Good morning, Lord Saionji." She bowed slightly, her tone a little cheerful. She hadn't noticed just how puffed up her hair was. J sat down beside her, and asked if she slept decently. "Yes, sir, I did." She nodded. She didn't tell him the reason was because he was warm and the best security blanket ever.

And then a question that made her wince. She didn't want to think about it. But he asked her about it. Right now, his want overrode her feelings. Maaya inhaled. And then nodded. "Yes, sir, I did. He... was the man I was promised to as a wife before. It has been about thirteen years, and I had forgotten. He is Ishirou Heihachirou of the former Heihachirou noble house. I was promised to him to wipe away a debt my Father had accrued with the Heihachirou family. They thought they were getting the better end of the deal, but..."

Maaya's hands gripped the sheets hard. "My Father was the one who was getting the best end. He was getting rid of two problems at once. But, as you know, the Heihachirou fell from grace after their head was convicted of being a slave trader. Ishirou was set to be the next head, so he was hit hard by it. The wedding agreement was called off as soon as the Heihachirou had their noble title struck. Although..." Maaya looked up briefly, "I think I remember seeing him around the manor sometimes. It was always with my Mother, and he seemed to be taking orders from her..." The thought that her own mother had ordered this didn't cross her mind.

That was not something that J. wanted to hear. There had been a time she was promised to another man? The reasons behind it were disgusting. Using your daughter to pay off a debt was almost as unforgivable as what occurred in the other room last night. The more J. heard about her parents, the more disappointed with them he was becoming. There were even thoughts of another Noble House being found in similar ways of the Heihachirou coming through his mind, but since they were of the higher Noble Houses, J. wondered if that would even be possible. If something like that would happen, J. would make sure that, even if they did not work out as a couple,  Maaya's status would not drop. He would adopt her in the Saionji in some manner, but of course this would be if he didn't end up marrying her. In the two weeks they've known each other, marriage to a woman like her was not a horrible idea.

"I see." was all he could say to reply at this point. He would need time to collect his thoughts. One thing she said stuck out more than the rest and it was something that he would be checking into today. "Give me a moment." he said and stepped out of the room. He returned a few moments later with multiple outfits, from formal to casual, laying over his arms. Assuming a bit with her help, the outfits were laid out over the bed. At the top though, were things he motioned for her to mess with: six matching pairs of bras and panties. He did not understand which would be good for her, but he knew he liked 'matching', so that's what he got. "I won't make you go into that room until you're ready. I saw the look on your face when you retrieved your pajamas." J. said this rather casually as he stepped over to his own closet. He moved things around a bit, made some space, and even emptied a drawer.

"Choose what you will wear today. I'll put the rest away." J. said as he pulled out one of his custom Shihakusho. This was a Shinigami uniform, but it had his family crest sewn into the back and on the right sleeve. The Captain's badge was also sewn in on the left sleeve. After that, he did not put on the Captain's haori, but instead the Saionji one. Once he and Maaya were finished dressing, he'd ask her to take the more feminine objects and put them in the drawer while he hung up her other clothing. "Breakfast should be ready by now, we slept in late. Kazuo is likely waiting." he began leading her down the hallways to the sitting room like every morning. This was just the first time that they were actually late. During their walk, J. was actually standing much closer to Maaya, but it was in a protective manner. Anyone that they passed could tell that it was smarter to walk around them now.

"Good morning, brother. I apologize for being late; I slept longer than expected." J. made sure that any blame would have been toward him, not Maaya. The three didn't have to wait this time. Instead, they walked straight into the eating area and sat down. As usual, J. pulled Maaya's chair out for her and then forward once she sat down. He went to his seat and within thirty seconds the meal had been placed in front of them. One thing that would have been noticed over time, J. absolutely loved french toast. When this meal was made, though he never noticed it, he ate quite a bit more. He took part in six slices of french toast, three scrambled eggs, and five sausages. He ate the first half before looking up to Kazuo. "Did you sleep alright?" he asked and took another bite of french toast, speaking up again after he finished chewing, "If you don't mind, I'd like to discuss the man we caught last night."

Maaya waited in silence. She didn't know what he was about to do. And then, he returned. What he was carrying made Maaya stand up in surprise. She tried to mouth out something, but her voice was barely more than a small squeak as she started. J placed her clothing on the bed, and she hurried to help him. She made sure to take her unmentionables away from him. Not out of embarrassment, but because that wasn't something he should touch.

"Thank you, sir." Maaya bowed and blushed, and then began picking out what she would wear. She had no idea what to wear. But she started with undressing out of her kimono. She made sure to turn away from him. She slid on a pair of light blue panties, and then turned around to do the bra while looking in the mirror. She had to make sure she got it just right. She gazed out to his back, and smiled a little. His back was so... muscular.

She then looked to see what he was gathering up to wear, she picked out something to match it. It was slightly more formal than what she wore last. It was a blue kimono with a shorter, almost skirt-like leg portion. She slid on a pair of dark, dark blue leggings too. The last thing she did was tie her hair back. She did it almost with an inhuman grace, and with the fluidity of countless acts of repetition. She placed her underwear neatly in the drawer, which was quite empty with only five pair in there.

Maaya found a place to put her dirty laundry, which she folded back, and placed it there. Maaya followed J, and noticed he was closer to her. She tried to step away at first, thinking she was the one too close. But he closed the distance again. She blushed and kept her head slightly angled down so he wouldn't see. Maaya bowed to Kazuo as she entered, and Kazuo stood up, bowed in return. "It was a long night, can't really blame you."

Kazuo sat down across from J, and Maaya sat in between them once again. Maaya did not have much of a hunger, though. However, she did pick up a peeled orange and began to nibble at that once the meal started. Kazuo's breakfast had a few sausage links, a large bowl of bran flakes (that he specially ordered), a couple of scrambled eggs, and half of a grapefruit. J asked if Kazuo slept well. Kazuo smiled. "Haven't slept, actually. Been..." Kazuo glanced down to his hands, which were covered in bandages, "busy."

That was codeword for "I was interrogating that guy. Personally." And then J almost made Kazuo spit out his food. He regained his composure. Maaya's appetite left her as soon as that question popped out. She dropped the half-eaten wedge back onto her plate and stared at the 2/3rds of an orange left. "J." Kazuo's tone was a little strained and almost scolding. "This is not a talk we should be having in front of her. For one, I don't think it's in good taste to bring up her memories of that." He held a finger, then held up another as he continued. "For two, I don't feel comfortable talking about what I found out in front of her." That was his way of saying "We can talk later in private, or you can ask Maaya to leave." However, if he was ordered to... Kazuo would tell his brother the truth.

    J. was not expecting either reaction from Maaya or Kazuo, but mostly from Kazuo. He raised an eyebrow at his brother. This was something they would normally have talked about over breakfast. Through out the day, they were dealing with their squads, missions, and paperwork. Breakfast was their time to discuss different activity before the day began. The fact that his brother was telling him to leave the conversation be was a little odd; he wasn't sure he liked or appreciated it. With every mention of Maaya, J. did understand Kazuo's reasoning a bit more. He looked to Maaya and then back to Kazuo with his normal stoic expression. "Maaya." J. spoke up and looked to the woman next to him, "If you are not comfortable with the conversation, I would ask that you step outside for a few moments. It doesn't seem like you're eating much anyway." This was the wrong decision, but J. didn't know that. And although he spoke it like a suggestion, it was an actual order. If she tried to stay, J. would speak up. "Maaya. Please wait in the sitting room." he'd say with a more commanding tone. Once she was gone, he looked to his brother and then to his brother's hands. "What exactly did you find out?" he said and continued to eat as if what he had just done was alright in his mind, which it was.

Maaya nodded in response. She stood up, and bowed deeply to J, then to Kazuo. "I will be in the sitting room, Lord Saionji. Thank you for the meal." Her body was weak and trembling. She sat down in the sitting room and shook. She gripped the skirt on her outfit tightly. She didn't want to think about it.

Kazuo was thankful Maaya left. Kazuo nodded and finished a sausage link before starting off."Here's what I know. His name is Ishirou Heihachirou, first child and eldest son of Reiji Heihachirou, former lord of the Heihachirou family. The Heihachirou were once a noble house, but Reiji Heihachirou was convicted of slave trading thirteen years ago. The Heihachirou had their name struck from the nobles, and they have been hemorrhaging money since then."

"Ishirou seems to be the only one with any sort of steady income. The attack was ordered by his current employer. And, this is why I didn't want Maaya to hear, but his employer is Mistress Shiina Ishino, current wife of the Lord of the Ishino, Nobutada Ishino, and Maaya's mother." It was impressive that Kazuo didn't need a notebook. He also was remembering it clear as day, and not stuttering or stammering. "He was told to 'make her unpresentable as a bride.' He asked what that entailed, and he was told 'use your imagination.' The order was given two nights prior. He snuck in with that last shipment of rice. He was in one of the crates to the rear and used a cloak that hid his reiatsu. I have brought forth a proposal," he handed a paper to J, "to change our security measures when inspecting bulk cargo to opening every large container. It'll take more time, but I don't want to risk another thing like that happening."

Kazuo finished eating another link of sausage and looked at J intently. "Now. How are we going to handle this, brother? I can launch an official investigation into this, but the Ishino are one of the Four Houses. It will be made public, and it will take a long time. However, that leaves you and the rest of the House in far less risky position." Kazuo was thinking like a politician when he suggest this idea. It was something he had to do. "If we do that, I do recommend talking with Head-Captain Hatakeyama about this before we do anything. With her signing off on it, we'd hit less of a roadblock."

"On the other hand, we could handle things on the down-low. That's a very, very, very risky plan that I do not recommend. If it were a lesser house, it would be a different story. She is the top lady in the Ishino family. I can't do anything without someone getting caught. And I would prefer it not to come back to you." Again, he was thinking like a politician. He had to protect his brother from doing something that would harm himself and the family. Kazuo also didn't want to spend his life in the Maggot's Nest, but he mainly didn't want J to.

And then, Kazuo smiled a bit. "And then... there's plan C. She struck out at not just Lady Maaya, but at you because it was in your home. She did it to make her own daughter unpresentable as a bride. J, it won't be something that will have instant vengeance... but if you marry Lady Maaya, it would be a perfect riposte. If you'd like a more instant satisfaction at besting her... Prove Lady Maaaya's worth to you in public. Something like that would get under Mistress Shiina's skin." Kazuo obviously preferred this plan.

The moment Maaya was not able to hear, both of them turned into political figures. Kazuo was J.'s right hand man for this reason. When J. was angry about something, Kazuo thought straight. When Kazuo was angry about something, J. would be the one to think straight. They were a good team. At the first bit of information was prevented, J. sat in silence and listened. "So... the Heihachirou have fallen. I remembered hearing something about that." J. said and finished off the last of his meal. Kazuo explained more and J.'s suspicions were confirmed. He had not chosen this outfit for no reason. He was ready to approached Captain Hatakeyama and the Ishino as Captain and Head of the Saionji Family.

"Ishirou seems to be the only one with any sort of steady income." "How is he pulling that off?" "The attack was ordered by his current employer. And, this is why I didn't want Maaya to hear, but his employer is Mistress Shiina Ishino, current wife of the Lord of the Ishino, Nobutada Ishino, and Maaya's mother." J.'s entire demeanor hardened. He did not look angry because he had his suspicions. "Maaya did explain that she saw Ishirou around her Mother from time to time... This is not surprising." The fact that this did not surprise J. was a little odd. Well, it would be odd to anyone that Maaya didn't tell about her parents treatment of her. He had that information, so this didn't shock him.

"He was told to 'make her unpresentable as a bride.' He asked what that entailed, and he was told 'use your imagination.'" When this was said, J.'s expression darkened. If one didn't know any better, you might think he was planning an assassination or even to start an all out war. Luckily, Kazuo was thinking straight and would be able to keep his brother in check. As he was handed the paper, J. nodded, "Well done." To keep himself calm, J. took in a very deep breath and slowly let it out, setting the paper into his haori. He sat silent as he listened to Kazuo's suggestions, thinking very hard on which one he would take. And when that last plan came up, J. couldn't help but raise an eyebrow.

"She is beautiful... and kind." J. sat back in his chair and closed his eyes, "It is not often that you find the two in one person." He opened his eyes and glanced toward the sitting room. After a moment of thought, he looked back to Kazuo with a curious expression. "Do you find her worthy to call sister-in-law, brother? It has only been two weeks; I will not make my decision, yet, but I would like your opinion." J. asked with sincerity. Once Kazuo was done giving his answer, J. had another question. "I want to take her somewhere, or do something where it would just be the two of us. A 'date', I believe is what most people call it. Do you have any ideas on how I should go about that?"

Kazuo didn't want his brother to fall. J admired his brother, and felt he had the absolute best brother in the world. He wasn't going to let J fall. He wasn't going to let J do something stupid like cause a war. That's why Kazuo had to remain calm. He couldn't share J's seething hatred right now. Kazuo felt he was the only person who could stop his brother before push came to shove.

And Kazuo smiled when J leaned back and gave Maaya a very well-deserved compliment. "Indeed she is, and indeed it is rare." Kazuo agreed gently. And then he nearly spat out his tea. J actually asked a question he wasn't expecting. He stared a moment at J in absolute surprise. "That's a hard one. Honestly, the fact you've kept her around shows that she's worthy. No offense, but I'm not the one with the high standards. If she's good enough for you to even have that thought over, she's definitely worthy to be my sister-in-law."

And then he nearly spit out his tea again. This time, he actually coughed a little. Holy shit, his brother was thinking of taking her out on a date?! Dear Lord in Heaven, this must be a dream. "Uhhhhh... Honestly, not really." Kazuo was genuinely confused. "The problem isn't that I don't know anything about a date. It's... the fact it's you," Kazuo pointed out with his hand open to J, "brother. I mean, you're different from me. And she's different from a lady I'd pick."

Kazuo thought for a moment, still heavily confused on what to do. "Although, I think I know what'll get her to open up a bit more. Some time with just you and her. Alone. Doesn't have to get into the hanky-panky, but I think she'd enjoy just being around you with no one else around. Maybe a nice private dinner. Or hell, take her to a private hot spring. And something else. Get her something. Not something like 'her own room' or a star. Get her something tangible. A gift. Flowers. Chocolates. Things like that. I really can't think of much else that I think the Lady Maaya would enjoy. She really seems to like you, and I think some time between the two of you would be perfect." And then a thought entered Kazuo's head. "Oh. When you are on the date, hold her hand."

    J. did wonder whether his standards were as high as his brother had stated. He just wanted a woman to make him feel like a man. Someone like Captain Koenig would never have worked. He wanted her to be beautiful, well-rounded, kind, a good mother, a good lover, loyal, honest, honorable, and gentle. He didn't want her to be loud, obnoxious, egotistical, blunt, demanding, or bossy in anyway. Okay, maybe that was a longer list than what most people had, especially when there was about thirty to forty more things he would be able to list off. Another thing that J. wondered about was why these questions were so surprising. Out of everyone he knew, Kazuo was the only one he'd ask advice from. Most people were too stupid or didn't know him well-enough. Kazuo was the opposite on both accounts.

"Hold her hand?" that was the first thing J. replied to as he thought about what to do. He was going to be thinking about this all day. He needed a secluded place where it was just them. He needed to buy her a gift, flowers, and chocolates. Yes, all of them because that's how he took it. "Thank you, Kazuo." he said and stood up from the table, "I think I know what I will do, though it will have to wait until tomorrow. I have certain things to take care of..." It was then that J. stopped and thought for a moment. He looked back to Kazuo and sighed, "I apologize, but I have a favor to ask of you... Do you think you can watch over her for the afternoon? I want her by my side, but with the information you just gathered, there are things I need to take care of. You are the only one I would trust with her."

No matter Kazuo's answer, J. would accept. If he did not agree, he would figure out something else to watch over Maaya. "I'm going to speak with her for a moment. Give us a moment." J. stepped into the sitting room and stood in front of Maaya. "The subject may be hard for a while, and I understand that, but this is something that won't vanish just yet. For that, I apologize." he knelt down in front of her, taking her hands in each of his, "Maaya, I will not ever allow anyone in this world or the next to scare you like that again, and those who attempt will be punished heavily." J. looked her straight in the eyes. There was nothing he had been more serious about. Rape and violation in the manner she almost fell victim to was something so far against his code. There was nothing even redeemable about that.

The reason Kazuo was so surprised wasn't because J was someone he had never pictured getting married. They were such a surprise because they came so suddenly. Kazuo didn't have time to steel himself. Kazuo wanted J to get married badly. He thought that would help ease his stress some. Plus, having someone there for him that he could trust with things that he wouldn't even tell Kazuo would be great for him. And Maaya, it seemed, would never betray him.

"Yeah, hold her hand. It's something romantics love. I think it signifies a link between the two, or it could signify that one is leading the other ahead in life. I don't know the specifics, but I know women love it. And Lady Maaya..." Kazuo smiled. "Well, she'll love it more than most women do. It shows you care about her, J." Kazuo was really trying to push them together.

Kazuo grimaced for a moment. He had planned on sleeping. However, he wasn't going to tell J "no" on this matter. Maaya was someone important to J, and Kazuo was the only person J trusted to watch her. He sighed and looked to his brother. "No problem. I'll probably keep her occupied with a more in-depth tour of the manor for a little while. After that, don't know. She won't leave the manor grounds, though." Kazuo nodded. He could defend her far more easily in the grounds of the manor than he could anywhere else.

But before J could get out of the room, Kazuo spoke up again, "And J. Please don't do anything rash." Kazuo plead to his brother. He didn't say "something you'll regret." Kazuo was afraid J would go to the Ishino family. And if he went to the Ishino family and just outright punched Mistress Shiina in the face, then he wouldn't regret it. But it would be rash. And Kazuo didn't want his brother to be embroiled in a scandal.

Maaya had accidentally dozed off, but the sliding clack of the door woke her up. She shot to attention, and went to stand up, but J was already kneeling before she could. She watched as J took her hands and placed each of them in his. It was then that she noticed the size difference. J had massive hands compared to her tiny ones. She stared at them before her head turned up so her eyes could see his.

Maaya teared up, but didn't cry. She had a weak smile grow on her face. She blinked the tears away and bowed lightly. "Thank you, Lord Saionji. I am honored to be protected by you in such a way. With you doing that, I feel as though no foe may ever reach me again." That wasn't flattery. That was how she really felt. Maaya felt as though J could stop an oncoming bullet and slice it into three pieces. "Although, I know you can not be there for me every time..." Maaya's grip, whether on his hands or her own depending on how her hands were taken, tightened. "That is why I will better train myself for defense." She nodded. Maaya was one to want to better herself. And... self-defense would be something she wanted to be better with.
