Kaminari's day was quite productive. After she left Genpaku's apartment, she went back to her own to quickly shower and change her shihakusho. Freshened up and ready for her day, she went straight to the Fourth Division to make an appointment. Not wanting to get it done because of upcoming training with Captain Saionji, Kaminari avoided Midori and made the appointment with one of the lower ranked members of the Division. From there, she made her way to the training grounds that Captain Saionji had them training at. The day of training was rather difficult since Kazuo had a different way of teaching than she was used to. She definitely worked up a sweat, but they called it an early day. That was when she got to meet J and Maaya. Needless to say, her day was quite the interesting one.

After a few hours passed of getting to know Lady Maaya, Kaminari remembered something she wanted to do and made her way to the Eleventh Division. She found Lilith and began asking her about Kei. She was trying not to be pushy, but she and Kei were pretty good friends. They may not be best friends in any way, but that didn't mean that Kaminari didn't worry when Kei vanished. Lilith gave away that she knew where Kei was, so Kaminari gave in and left "Just tell her I hope she's well" as a message. Frustrated with the confusion, Kaminari left in a huff and began making her way back towards the Tenth Division. She began running recipes in her head for dinner. It was a little later than she meant it to be. The sun was already gone and the torches within the Seireitei were all that lit up the paths.

With no real rush after she had warned Genpaku about the lateness or lack of dinner, Kaminari was taking her time walking back. She had used shunpo to get back into her Division's territory, but stopped her quickened journey there. Not many people were out. She passed a few on her way back and waved. A couple tried talking to her, but she quickly ended the conversations and hurried on.

This was most unfortunate, but he had to admit that it seemed time to remove her from the equation.  How best then to go about it?  It wasn't quite time for that, so best to take care of it quietly.  Well, considering this one there would likely be little quiet about it.  So instead, how best to incite the most chaos in its wake without tipping his hand?

Ooooh...now that might work.  He just had to...yes, there was one in place.  Excellent...

So the hunt began.  As Kaminari went about her day, she would begin to feel a familiar pressure.  Like someone watching her.  It was a tension of sorts, as though those eyes that followed her had something planned for her; something prolonged, intimate, and painful.  It was a tension, an instinct that crawled around at the back of her awareness, a sense.  And yet the day was so peaceful and fun, full of smiling people and warm light.  It was such an ordinary day.  Perhaps it was just her friend's worry rubbing off on her?  But that presence continued to squirm at the edges of her senses, never so intrusive as to be at the forefront of her mind.  Never that close; the circles that had once been so useful for her move through now proved to be a difficulty when it came to wrapping up business.

She moved from training to conversation with powerful enemies, and so he needed patience.  Then she traveled to a place the presence had difficulty following; the Eleventh Division was not the most welcoming place.  Should he switch...no, he was going about this wrong.  Sometimes, preparation was needed for even a simple task.  So the presence retreated even further, and left her to her conversation with the Eleventh Division Captain.  The day wore further on, which was good; the Seireitei was such an active place during the day.  Night was much better for his plans.  He thought, and knew how she'd go from here.  Her route.  Given what he'd gathered, he knew how to proceed.

As night fell across the Seireitei the guard changed, and settled in for the night watch.  Within the Tenth Division grounds however, there was someone unfamiliar.  An almost gaunt figure, pale and hollow eyes.  It was searching; he needed the right location.  Sure enough he found it, and those guarding it.  If he had access to their Kidō this would be a simple process, but alas.  Even with that handicap though, it was not so difficult a task to remove the first obstacle; he never expected the blade sliding into his throat after all.  The second guard though had sufficient warning when his friend stumbled back with the blade in his throat.  It seemed all the training this division did had its benefits, as the guard made a decent showing of himself.  He even scored a handful of wounds, but in the end he fell as well.  A few more minute to hide the evidence from the direction she'd approach and, yes right on time.

So we come to the here and now.  Kaminari may have noticed the strange extended distance with no guard.  Or maybe she didn't, so enthralled by her paltry thoughts.  As she walked though a figure came into view ahead of her, in the shadows of surrounding torches.  It was a tall man, with a long face.  He smiled brightly all the same.

“Ah, Kaminari-san yes?  Excuse me, but I need a word with you,” he called out friendly enough.  She turned, addressed him with curiosity.
“Yes, you see I needed to inform you that your services are no longer required,” he said as he stepped forward into the light.  There were wounds, and his front had blood on it.  “All that I need from you now is to die.”  He lunged forward, his Zanpakutō glinting in the light as it swept through the night air towards her.

Kaminari's day was fun, peaceful, and went almost exactly as she hoped it would. There was just this strange feeling pecking at the back of her head and this shiver that slithered up the back of her neck randomly. That feeling that she was being watched returned multiple times throughout the day. She was caught randomly looking off in some random direction suddenly when that dark itch crept up her skin. She thought someone was there, but never caught sight of them. She brushed it off as part of her own paranoia and planned on giving Genpaku a piece of her mind. Kaminari wasn't the type to walk around feeling scared of her own shadow and after their little talk, she couldn't help but feel anxious.

Night had fallen and it was Kaminari's time to go home. Well, to Genpaku's home and make him dinner. The walk there was quiet. She waved to the guards she passed by, most of them knew her by name at this point. Unfortunately for them, she couldn't remember most of theirs. As she walked along one of the many paths of the Seireitei, Kaminari heard an unfamiliar voice call out to her. "Hm?" she turned toward the sound to see a man she did not recognize. The fact that he was pretty much hiding in the shadows didn't help either. "Hello?" she raised an eyebrow at him and stepped toward him, "My services?" She stopped as he walked out and revealed himself fully. Kaminari's eyes widened.

He was covered in blood and had a few wounds himself. Her first instinct was to ask if he was okay, but he was already freaking her out! His next statement only confirmed it. Kaminari took a step back and to her left quickly, but not quick enough. The man's blade came down and sliced through her right shoulder. Kaminari grit her teeth and took a few more steps back as she pulled her Zanpakutō from its sheath with her left hand. Luckily, she was ambidextrous. "What are you doing?!" she shouted at him. Each time he took a step closer, she moved back away from him. The moment she felt she had a chance, she took a glance at the blood dripping down her arm. Thankfully, the wound didn't seem too deep, but it definitely hurt like hell. "What did I do? Why do you want to kill me?"

This would really be so much easier if she just accepted that her usefulness was up; alas, she didn't know enough to consider that a viable coarse of action. She seemed to even lack the brains to understand what was going on.
“I should think the answer to that rather obvious,” he said, taking a step forward. She retreated. He took another and she another. As fun as that could be though, he couldn't have retreat too much. He'd chosen this spot because he had a certain amount of privacy. Too much deviation, and that would go out the window. Besides, if he wasted too much time this would become more trouble than it was worth.
“I have my reasons Shini. Alas, I don't think you really need to know. Die in ignorance,” he said, his smile too wide for his face. He lunged once more, blade sweeping across, aiming to take her in the leg. He needed her to stay still so that he could be done with this.

Granted, if that proved too difficult he'd simply move on to killing her before completing his objective. As long as he took care of it before anyone else interfered again, that was all that mattered. Now if he'd just co-operate and she'd just stand damn still!

Kaminari was going to play with her right to be confused for as long as she needed to. It wasn't every day that a random Shinigami that you didn't know came up to you with the intent to kill you. If she had known him and done something that annoyed or pissed him off, she'd understand this and wouldn't need those questions answered. "How is it 'rather obvious' when I don't even know you!"

"Shini?" Kaminari took note of that. It was an odd thing for another Shinigami to call her. Thanks to some recent intense training, Kaminari was able to anticipate this guy's next attack. She was quick on her feet and a swift step backwards quickly shifted into a full shunpo. Kaminari vanished from his sight and reappeared behind him about ten feet away. She held her Zanpakutō firmly in her hand and glared at him. "If you really think I'm going to just allow you to kill me, you're dead wrong."

Kaminari quickly forced her right arm up and kept her left firmly on her weapon. "Hadō Number Four, Byakurai!" A streak of blue lightning shot from the tip of her index finger, aiming at the torso of her opponent. Her shot was pretty accurate, but a tense of pain did allow it to vere minutely to the side.

Of course she didn't want to make this easy.  So selfish of her to actually fight back.  Not that it would do her any good in the long run.  His swing missed, and in a better display of skill than he expected she turned her simple step into a Shunpo.  She appeared behind him, raising a finger to point accusatorially at him.  That was cute was she planning on lecturing him about ho-then lightning happened.

Well, it seemed she had more a spine than he expected.

The man spun, bringing up his Zanpakutō to intercept the bolt of lightning.  Or, at least part of it; his turn seemed slow, and he only brought the blade mostly up as the bolt collided.  If she hadn't wavered slightly it might have gone clean through the right side of his stomach.  Instead, the bolt was partly deflected and raked across his side.  Yet he kept smiling.  He looked down at the wound, and looked back at her.

“What do you know.  That was hardly pathetic at all,” he commented before he suddenly rushed towards her, giving a thrust aimed at her center of mass.

It was a feint, however.  Assuming she'd dodge he'd make with his actual attack.  The thrust was one handed, mainly because of the knife he'd slipped into his free hand.  If she was close enough, he'd made a go at taking out her left arm with the knife.  If she instead retreated he make a go at throwing the knife her way.  Given how the body was reacting though, he wasn't sure on the chances of hitting.

Kaminari winced when she wavered. That small change in her movement was enough to prevent the full impact of her Kidō. She was glad to know she had wounded him though; Hopefully it would slow him down. Once the Kidō was fired, she let her arm fall and hang loosely at her side. "What, you thought I wa-." Kaminari's words were cut off by his sudden charge. She couldn't fire another Kidō that quickly and wasn't confident of her ability to block with her left hand. Seeing his blade thrusting toward her torso, Kaminari moved to step back away from the assault. This she knew that she could dodge.

However, she was not expecting a faint. The knife came out of nowhere. Kaminari's reflexes took over the moment that glint of steel made its appearance. If he hadn't been slower, for reasons she does not know of, he would have succeeded. However, this sluggish movements allowed Kaminari to moved her arm back just enough to prevent the knife from completely taking out her left arm. Kaminari felt the sharp sting of his blade as it glided up her lower arm a couple inches. Kaminari took this moment to counter. After taking the hit, she shifted her stance and swung her blade horizontally at his chest.

Again, she was just quick enough. He had hoped to end this quickly so he could go back to more interesting matters. His knife found minimal purchase, and certainly not enough to incapacitate her from fighting back. A fact she aptly demonstrated as she shifted into a more appropriate fighting stance and took a swing at him. He dropped the knife, bringing his Zanpakutō back to try and block the strike

Her blade found purchase in his chest. Not entirely; he'd brought the blade up to block the strike, but only enough to stop it from biting deep into this one's chest cavity. He looked down at that, and for the first time the smile faltered slightly. However, it wasn't fear in his expression. It wasn't regret. It was annoyance.

“Come now, you're quicker than this. So stop resisting!” he spat out, and shoved back with his weapon. The movement was just to give him a little space though, enough to get his leg up for a kick aimed at her sternum.

Hit or miss, it'd likely give him the room to line up his next strike. It was another thrust, aiming high for her left shoulder. This thrust wasn't like the previous one though. It was quicker, more precise. The way the man's body moved was like it was becoming more familiar with its own movements. The smile had returned but where one would expect anger or elation, some strong emotion, there was just detached calm in those hollow eyes. It was like someone doing a chore. The wounds he had sustained oozed blood, and yet he simply didn't seem to care. He didn't give them a second thought.

"No!" Kaminari immediately went in for a second strike, her confidence raised after what she thought to be a successful hit. That confidence though was quickly stolen by a rather strong kick her to her chest. The strike knocked the air out of her and she stumbled back with her right hand over her chest. Before she could catch her breath, he went in for a second strike. His movements changed and Kaminari quickly noticed that. Every motion he made was quicker and more skillful than before. It was as if this man forgot how to fight and was remembering as their battle went on.

Kaminari screamed in pain as his blade slid through her left shoulder with no time for her to react. She backed up quickly, forcing his blade from her shoulder and then shunpo'd about twenty feet away from him. Still in his line of sight, she kept her eyes on him. What the hell was wrong with this guy? "Do you even feel pain!?" she shouted angrily at him, though her voice shook with hints of fear. She went to lift her left arm, but it hurt worse than her right. Breathing heavily, she struggled to change the hand her Zanpakutō was in. Once she did, she hell it as well as she could, but her arm was shaking.

Kaminari quickly glanced to her wounds and then around, trying to think of a way to escape this. From where they were standing, there was only one way she wanted to go to get to him. Unfortunately, that was through this insane man and Kaminari wasn't sure she co-... "He damaged your arms, not your legs. Move, idiot." a voice rang in frustration at the back of her mind. She had only heard that voice once or twice up to this point, but was glad that it was making an appearance here. Shizukana was right. Kaminari may not be able to use her arms, but her legs were fine. She kept her blade in her hand and charged at her attacker. However, once she reached within a couple feet of his reach, she vanished. Kaminari chose to shunpo behind him and run off, doing her best to ignore the pain.

Ah yes, finally it seemed she'd come to her senses. She switched which hand was holding her weapon and charged in for one last valiant charge. Always they were charging for one last shot at glory, like if they could just reach their target they'd magically make it through whatever hardship they were experiencing. No matter though, he brought back his weapon and took his swing as she closed in.

Except she wasn't there when he finished swinging.

He blinked, then heard the sound of footsteps retreating behind him. He spun; well he hadn't wanted this to turn into a chase, but there wasn't much choice for it. The body wasn't moving well enough yet, but he was sure he could catch up to her as long as it held. So he rushed after her. More importantly, he needed to catch her before she came across someone else or else this would get messy.

Kaminari had succeeded in faking him out. She ended up behind him and running for her life. She had quite a ways to go to get to Genpaku, since he was the only person she trusted to help her fast enough. Kaminari could hear him coming up behind her. "GO AWAY!" she screamed into the air, refusing to look back. She could feel him getting closer and closer. His footsteps were getting louder and she began to panic. Her mind was only focused on what was behind her. Her body was trying to get where she wanted to be. Unfortunately, she needed to pay a bit more attention to her surroundings.

Kaminari came to a turn that she would normally had been able to take. However, as she turned, she saw how close her opponent had gotten in that time frame and panicked. She completely lost her footing and fell. Her body slid across the white floors of the Seireitei until she ended up rolling into a wall. Her Zanpakutō went flying from her hand, gliding along the ground with the light screech of metal on stone. Kaminari tried to quickly recover, but her arms prevented her from rising quickly. As she raised from the ground and looked up, Kaminari knew she was going to die. "P-Please... don't."

So the chase through the night air went, Kaminari screaming for her life while her assailant closed the distance.  Step by step he closed the gap.  She couldn't keep up this run either.  And sure enough she tried to make a turn and slipped.  Her weapon clattered away, and she was left there.  Helpless as a human.  She looked up, she pleaded.  It was almost sickening.  He never stopped smiling.  He simply raised his weapon.  There were shouts nearby, but none of the rank and file guards could reach him in time.  His objective had been achieved.

    He lunged forward.

Something crashed down, hard, colliding with the back of his skull and driving him face first into the stone floor of the pathway with enough force to break the tiles.  With enough force to send his legs up from that impact, almost making him perform a headstand; before he could figure out what had taken place another strike hit, sending him flying into the wall twenty feet behind.  Thing had just taken a turn for the worse.

Third Time's The Charm [Closed] GenpakuPostingHeaderBB

Kaminari slipped and skidded into the wall.  The assailant flew forward for the final blow.  The guards nearby, having just witnessed started rushing forward to try and stop it.  One began to call for a Kidō.

Genpaku took a more hands on approach for dealing with someone attacking one of his closest friends.

He appeared out of nowhere, directly above the charging man; he brought down a raised leg, striking his target with more force than had been strictly necessary with and ax kick that would have left most unconscious.  He held back enough to not kill him though; he wanted to know why.  That didn't stop him from making sure the man was nowhere near his friend, hence where the open palmed thrust came from that sent the attacker flying back and away.  It happened quick as an in-drawn breath, like lightning from a clear sky.

But how did he come to be at this place, and just this time?  Let us turn back the clock a bit, shall we?

Genpaku's day had been different from normal.  He'd followed up a hunch, and it had payed off in a manner of speaking.  It had left him more questions, but they were questions that were important to be asked.  He had needed a second opinion and it had confirmed it; he'd asked her not to bring it up yet.  He had a feeling things were getting dark quick.

He'd consulted with a few friends, and taken some time to think on a few things.  It was possible he was just being paranoid, but now more than before he didn't think so.  He just couldn't see all the threads yet.  He'd taken some time collect his thoughts, and had gone to the top of the Sokyoku Hill as the sun had set to settle his mind.  To put things in perspective.  Even that did not change his feeling that things were going downhill.  As night settled its hold on the Seireitei, he decided it was time for to head back to his Division's grounds.  Maybe make something to eat since he doubted Kaminari had returned.

He took a step and crossed much of the distance, setting foot once more in native territory.  He started making his way back, listening to the sounds in the night and trying to figure out his next step.  He heard it then; a scream.  It rang out in the night air; it was too far to make out the owner of the voice, or even the words.  But it was enough to pique Genpaku's interest.  He turned and took another flash step in that direction.  He arrived at the guard post near the scene, the two Shinigami on guard already looking around for the source of the scream when it unfolded before them.  Kaminari came barreling around the corner, covered in blood and running for her life.  She slipped, lost hold of her Zanpakutō.  Genpaku felt the rage building already.  The man rounded the corner, smiling.  He raised his weapon.  So Genpaku stepped in.

Which brings us all back to the present.  Genpaku stood there, the Captain's Haiori setting back into place as he stood.  His eyes were locked on the form of the man he had struck.  Remarkably, he began to move again.  There should have pained sounds, but there were none.  He shouldn't have been awake; he was lucky to be alive!  Genpaku was not interested in letting him terrorize his friend any more, however.  He knew he shouldn't kill the man, though in that moment he wanted to.  Genpaku was no saint, he had dark thoughts like most others.  But he also had control.  He took another step, appearing behind the dazed man.  He'd developed this technique for just this purpose after all; he struck the man twice, faster than a man can blink.  With both strike he forced energy into the man's body.  Senka was a technique using a Zanpakutō that destroyed the key points required for reiryoku control, and generally it destroyed a person's power all together.  Genpaku had developed a modified version, a 'softer' version of the technique using unarmed strike.  The result would leave him without power for while.  The man fell to the ground.  His back was fractured, one of his arms was fully broken.  Genpaku stared down at him for a moment; he shouldn't have been moving.  He should have been in immense pain.  And yet...

Genpaku turned his attention back.  He was at Kaminari's side in a moment, as a soft green glow welled up around her.

“Hold still a moment,” he said as he began the process of healing her wounds.  If anything was too great though, he was going to have to take her to the Fourth.

Third Time's The Charm [Closed] Header8_zpsh4jhbive

Everything happened so fast. The peaceful and fun day Kaminari enjoyed took a very bad turn. She had fought thinking she could actually win and failed. She ran for her life, scared to look back. Her heart was racing, her breathing was heavy, and in a panic lost her footing and slid across the ground. The fall granted her a twisted ankle and wrist, along with a minorly scraped knee, but nothing more.

Now staring into the eyes of a maniac, Kaminari felt the end coming. She begged him not to, though she knew he would not comply. That sudden movement he made to lunge at her pushed Kaminari to withdraw from him. Her back pressed against the wall as her body curled in on itself and her arms came around her head as if this childish defensive position were going to save her from this man's merciless blade. She expected the hit any moment, but the pain never came. She looked up.

"G-Gen...?" She whimpered as a single tear threatened to fall; she wiped that thing away in less than a second. Her attacker had been sent flying away and so Kaminari knew she was safe. She took a deep breath and held it the entire time she watched this scene unfold. Like twice before, Genpaku was the one who got her out of a frightening situation. By the time he returned to her side, Kaminari was remembering the wounds she had. The adrenaline had temporarily numbed them.

Kaminari nodded and held still like he asked. With her mind running a mile a second, Kaminari did not look at Genpaku or at the onlookers who watched. She stared at that man, his limp and broken body lying in the middle of the walk. She had this strange feeling that he was going to move again. The pain was slowly lessening with Gen's healing. She glanced to him momentarily, but her eyes quickly focused back to what she was hoping to be a corpse. "Is... I-Is he dead?" she asked hopeful of his answer. Though her expression was normal, Kaminari's body was shaking. She wasn't able to hide her fear.

Genpaku did not notice the fear in Kaminari; or, more pointedly, he did not react to them. Given the traumatic experience that Kaminari had likely just gone through, pointing out her fear probably wouldn't be in any way helpful.
“No,” he said, a sharpness to his voice. “But he also isn't going to be doing much of anything anytime soon. He doesn't have a shred of spiritual power to him for the moment,” he said. He shot a look back at the prone figure. If he was playing at being unconscious this time, he'd be smart to stay down.

“What happened?” he asked, turning his attention back to Kaminari as the other guards caught up. He shot them a look.
“One of you get him in restraints; call up a few others, and start moving him to the holding cells. I want someone watching him until I say otherwise. Get word to the Seventh Division and the Fourth Division; I want to know who this guy is,” he said. The guards jumped to it, responding to a ring of authority in Genpaku's voice he rarely used.

He turned his attention back to Kaminari.

Kaminari shifted uncomfortably. That was not the answer she wanted. There was a piece of her, and it likely showed in her eyes, that wanted to blast the guy with one of her more powerful Kidō to end this. She might have done it too, or tried it, but Kaminari's pain was too much. She finally looked away from him and back to Genpaku. She stared at him until he asked his question. She jumped when he did too.

She opened her mouth to talk, but the incoming members of her Division stopped her. She didn't look to them and did not speak until they left. Once they were gone, Kaminari cleared her throat. "I, um..." she hesitated, took a deep breath and tried again, "I was walking home. Well, to your place and he came and said he wanted me to die. I... Well, I thought I could beat him. He was slow and then suddenly was fast. He hit my left arm first, then stabbed my right sh-shoulder. I got passed him, ran, tripped... and then you." Kaminari was having a hard time getting out the actual details. Her words were choppy, broken, and forced. Her story wasn't exactly in chronological order and the wounds were opposite to what she said. In short, she was shaken up and trying to keep herself together.

Genpaku looked worriedly as Kaminari tried to get the events out. Her voice was choppy, and it seemed there was some confusion in her voice. He looked at her, green eyes intense as he considered her for a moment. The green light faded as the wounds were closed.
“Hey. Take a breath. Its over now. He's not going to get to you anymore,” he said, and there was confidence in his voice. He gave her as reassuring a smile as he could.

He stood up as more members of the Division showed up. The messages were being sent out. He flagged down a Hell's Butterfly. He muttered a message before sending it off.

“Come on. We're not going to sit here all night now,” he said as he handed her back her Zanpakutō. He ushered her up, made sure his orders about their newest 'guest' were being followed, and started on his way back towards his place.

Kaminari couldn't look away from those eyes, not when he looked like that. Hers were fixated on his for those few moments. She nodded, took a deep breath, and exhaled slowly to calm herself down. "I know, I know." she replied and smiled back to him. Kaminari sat in silence while the other members were being dealt with. She noticed the Hell Butterfly being sent off, but didn't get to hear the message. When he referred to her again, Kaminari nodded and slowly pushed herself to her feet. The more open wounds had closed from being healed, but her ankle was still a bit sore from the fall. She twisted it around a bit to stretch it and then followed Genpaku back to his place without much problem.

Within ten minutes, Kaminari and Genpaku made it back to his place. She was silent most of the time, her mind weary from her little experience. She sat at the table they ate breakfast at and stared at the tables surface, only speaking when he spoke to her. The next ten minutes passed and a hard knock came to Genpaku's door. Kaminari didn't move a muscle. She just raised her head and looked to Genpaku for him to answer it. Once he did, Midori came into the apartment without much of an invite. She seemed to be expecting something and when her eyes fell on Kaminari, she froze. She opened her mouth to speak, but couldn't. She looked to Genpaku, her eyes horrified. "Oh god, please no."

Genpaku led the way back to his apartment, letting the silence hang in the air.  Though his eyes seemed to wander, he didn't stay more than a few feet from her side and he seemed very alert.  He let her into his apartment, hanging his Haori up near the door.  He guided her to the table, got her a drink, and made switch from silence to a constant stream of inane small talk and chatter to fill the air.  He seemed to be waiting for something.

The knock came and Genpaku was already in motion when Kaminari looked up.  He answered the door.

“Thanks for coming,” he said to Midori as she came in.  She made her way in, and her eyes settled on Kaminari.  She turned back to him, eyes horrified.  He shook his head.
“No, though something in my gut tells me the incident is connected.  Different guy too; don't know him.  He's taking a nap in Tenth Division's holding cells till you guy's and the Seventh get me an answer on who he is,” he said, a forced calm wedged into his words.
“She got cut up pretty bad, but we got most of that taken care of.  I'm worried she may have broken or twisted things though.  Also figured it would be best if we kept reports consolidated.”

Midori's entire body was tense and she was holding her breath. Once Genpaku said no, she visibly relaxed and sighed in relief. "Oh, thank god." Midori said with a giggle and hurried over to Kaminari's side. She listened to what Genpaku was saying while checking Kaminari out herself. Kaminari motioned silently to her ankle, which Midori took notice of. Midori applied a small lingering heal to Kaminari's ankle after seeing some slight swelling and then stood up. "Well, nothing is broken, but you do need to come in for an exam some time soon." Midori said, receiving a slight nod as a reply. Midori raised an eyebrow and suddenly whacked Kaminari on the side of the head. "HEY! What'd you do that for!"

"Wake the hell up. You're fine." Midori said softly, tilting her head slightly. Kaminari glared at her and then sent that glare toward Genpaku as well, as if her getting hit was his fault. "Why'd you even call her!" "Don't yell at him. What the hell happened out there? Did you try to fight someone you knew you couldn't?" "No, I thought I could beat him! He just... He was weak at first and then suddenly wasn't. He was slower than me and then suddenly faster. It was like he forgot how to fight and suddenly remembered when I almost sliced his chest open!" "Why was he after you in the first place?" "I don't know... He just wanted me dead. He said I wasn't needed anymore. I didn't even know that guy."

"Kaminari, you know just about everyone, so are you one hundred percent positive you didn't know him?" Kaminari shook her head angrily and stood up from the chair, "I DIDN'T KNOW HIM!" Midori was shocked by the sudden outburst and stayed silent as Kaminari glared at her. Kaminari realized she overreacted really quick and turned away from both of them. She didn't like being interrogates, especially about this. She had just wanted to go to bed and forget about today! She hurried toward the bathroom and just hid away in there, locking the door for a while. "She's really shaken up... What did you see happen?" Midori turned curiously to Genpaku, obviously worried about Kaminari.

Genpaku watched silently as Midori relaxed, then tried to find out what had happened from Kaminari. He had to admit, it was strange that Kaminari seemed so adamant that she didn't know her attacker. Midori wasn't wrong; it really did seem like she knew everyone in the Gotei so that fact that she didn't know this one was off. There were relatively few divisions her assailant could have come from for her to not know them.

He started to respond to Kaminari's question, but a shouting match started. Even Genpaku knew enough to stay out of a shouting match between two females unless absolutely necessary. The argument culminated in Kaminari overreacting, then going and hiding in the guest bathroom. He gave a small sigh.

“That could have gone better,” he grumbled before Midori turned her attention back to him.
“Not much really. I sorta came in on the end of it. Kaminari was wounded, on the ground, and he was rushing her,” he commented, then closed his eyes and thought about it a moment.
“Which is rather odd when I think about it. Given his degree of physical skill, I'd have placed him someone north of a Tenth Seat. Maybe a seventh? He should have been able to outspeed her without too much difficulty. Or even used Kidō. Why didn't he?” He seemed puzzled by this.

"It could have, but I'm not good at comforting friends, so..." Midori shrugged and asked him. She thought on his answers and stared toward the bathroom door, wondering what Kaminari could have done to be attacked. "The answer is beyond me. Maybe he was just toying with her, trying to break her mind before her body type deal?" Midori asked, but then something came to mind, "Or maybe it wasn't him at all. This stays between you and I, but your Li-..." Midori caught herself, stepped closer to Genpaku and spoke quieter, "Your Lieutenant was not the only one attacked. There have been multiple attacks throughout the Seireitei recently. We've lost about seven Shinigami, one of those being a Captain and four others are being questioned and examined." Midori let that hang in the air for a bit.

Midori sighed in frustration and rubbed her temples. "I have no idea what is going in the Seireitei, but it's not safe for anyone right now. We're trying to keep the attacks under wraps. I'm going to be calling for a Captains meeting soon. I know Captai-... Your Mother is wanting one as well." Midori tried to lighten the mood a bit by picking on him. She crossed her arms. "Kaminari is the only one who didn't know her attacker, so it's possible this has nothing to do with the rest, but I doubt it. Your thoughts?"

His eyes narrowed once Midori started spilling information.  This was the kind of information he'd been missing.   It was worse news than he'd thought too.  If a Captain had been lost, he could understand why they were working to keep things under wraps.  Wait.  He held his tongue as Midori threw out some more information.  He shot her a fierce smirk when she tried picking on him, but it didn't quite reach his eyes.  He was onto something.
“Which Captain?  And what do you mean by lost?” he asked.

If this were anyone lower ranking, she'd have told them to leave it be, but... "Captain Fujiki attacked a member of his squad and was confronted by someone else in order to save the victim." Midori lowered her head sadly, "Captain Fujiki was killed in defense of a weaker Shinigami. Though it isn't how I would have settled the situation, I cannot blame the individual involved. When I say lost, I mean lost. They were killed by people protecting themselves or another person who came to protect their targets..."

"In Captain Fujiki's case, his victim even vouched for him and refused to acknowledge it was their Captain that had attacked them. They claimed something was controlling him, forcing him to do that... To the point where he apologized and thanked the one who killed him after being knocked from whatever trance he may have been in... It sounds crazy, but with everything that has been going on, and it being someone like Captain Fujiki in question, I am not ruling anything out at this point."

“When did this happen?” he asked
“A couple of days ago,” Midori clarified. Genpaku seemed to consider this for a few silent moments, trying to put more pieces of this together.
“I don't think there's any way this attack isn't related, to the whole lot of it. I'm starting to think I have an idea on who it is pulling the strings too. Kaminari mentioned to me earlier today that she came across Captain Fujiki recently staring blankly at a wall before walking off. Considering the events taking place right now, something in my gut told me there was more to it than that. When I checked out the location I ran across traces of energy that felt like an Arrancar. I brought in the Fifth Division Captain as a second opinion; she confirmed my suspicion. Was part of why I wasn't here at first; I was trying to put some of this together to make a call of my own for a Captain's meeting.”

Of course, it wasn't that simple anymore. If a captain had been compromised by whatever was doing this, then really there was no one above suspicion. He couldn't go getting all paranoid yet though; he wasn't going to piece this all together on his own. He just had to hope he was making the right call here.
“These seemingly random attacks have to be connected; their timing is too close to be coincidence. My gut tells me its tied to the events from a year ago. Whether it be Kaminari's kidnapping or the Captain Commander's fight with the Arrancar, that's when all this began. I just can't see how they're connected yet.”

"An Arrancar?" Midori was actually pretty shocked, though there was more irritation in her tone. All of this was possibly being done by a fucking Arrancar? How did they even get into the Seireitei? What is their target? Midori had many questions she needed answered, but none were going to be answered now. "I think bringing every Captains mind together will be the best option. We'll all bring what we know and see if we can piece things together while also informing everyone of what has really been going on here... Nice job, by the way. That was good, catching the Arrancar's reiryoku. Smart."

"I... believe their all connected too. We'll figure that out." Midori waved that conversation off, literally, and then motioned toward the bathroom door, "You know who your Lieutenant is staying with; she's safe. The other victims have others watching over them as well. You want me to find someone to watch over her?" Midori smiled mischievously, "Or should you take care of her yourself? I mean, the only other person she trusts like you is in the hospital and since we don't know the reasons behind the attacks, and whatever this is has blatantly stated he wants her dead... maybe she should stay with yoouu? I mean she doesn't have to. It is only a suggestion, but I'm sure it's the best choice."
