New Beginnings [Closed]

Someone saw this encounter between the naughty nurse and Captain Little Saionji and had no problem rushing off to tell the others about it. Midori just got into the office. She took the back entrance like she always did and stopped around the corner as she heard the gossiping girls talking. "Can you believe she's doing that?!" Yuri said. "If she gets caught, she's dead. You know that right?" Eri replied. "Oh, come on. Captain Hayashi is the only one that ever gets to examine the Captains. I can't blame Megumi. She took her chance while she had it. Captain Saionji is hot as hell. I just wish I had gotten that chance." "What room?" Midori stepped around the corner and startled the two girls. Yuri was caught off guard and stuttered a few times before giving the room Kazuo and Megumi had gone into.

Midori did not shunpo or run. She had a quickened pace and anyone who saw the look on her face got out of the way. The intense rage that shined like fire in her eyes was enough to make Kaminari take a few steps back. When she got to the room, she burst through the door and grabbed the overly excited and now scared to death Megumi by the hair. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?" Midori said as she dragged the girl out, closing the exam room door behind her. There was a lot of yelling that echoed through most of the Division's complex. Suddenly some people called in sick, not wanting to deal with an angry Midori. After a few minutes, she had the woman dragged off to the Division's jail cell and then returned to Kazuo's room with his actual file. "I apologize greatly for that, Captain Saionji."

Midori leaned against the exam room door. When Kazuo explained what happened, she couldn't help but smile at him. That was an innocence she liked him having. "She'll be sitting in a cell for the next couple of days." Midori stood up and walked over to the counter, setting the file down, and then sitting on a round stool. "I hadn't told any of the Captains, but I make sure that I am the only one who does any of your physicals... especially you and your brother. Do you have any idea how many fans you've got here? Any one of those girls out there would love to come in here and watch you take your shirt off. They'd play like it was a normal examination, but would intentionally not use gloves just to feel you all up. I had one member get very close to sneaking a 'cough for me, Captain' to someone else at a time... She knows that rule and broke it anyway. I'd rather none of you feel like you're being oggled and violated in this office, so no one here even knows where the Captains and even some Lieutenants files are." Midori sighed and cleared her throat, "So you want to get your bi-annual done then?"

Midori nodded and began the examination. She checked his eyes, his ears, and his throat. "Everything's lookin' good so far." she said as she picked up his file and wrote down a few notes. She went over to the drawer and pulled out her stethoscope  as he began talking. As she closed the door, she froze and listened as he apologized. She smiled and turned to him. She put one finger in front of her lips to signal for him to be quiet. "Deep breath." she said and placed the round end on his chest. She listened to his lungs and his heart, telling him to take a deep breath three times for his chest and back. Once she was done, she put the stethoscope around her neck and smiled again. "It's okay, Captain Saionji. You don't need to apologize. I didn't think too much of it. It was an interesting game, not one I thought Kaminari would pull everyone into doing, but it was fun. Learned a lot about everyone." Midori wrote a few more things down and closed the file. "Alright. Nothing else needs to be done here. And thank you for coming to apologize. I'm sorry that you got asked all the embarrassing questions."

Midori remembered something then. A look of utter embarrassment came over her face and her cheeks looked extremely red. "It was quite the party, huh? I can't believe some of the things that happened there... Kind of wish they'd all go away." Midori put her hand over her face and shook her head, "Just don't ever mention the body shot... If I had known what it was, I wouldn't have accepted the challenge. It was a little weird." Midori's face went back to normal as the embarrassment went away.

Midori was surprised at what he thought of the game. She smiled and nodded, "Yes, sure. I'd love to." Midori stepped out of the exam room, motioning for him to follow. She walked into her office, closing the door after he entered, and opened up a safe behind a picture she had. She set his file inside with the other Captain files and then closed it up. "I don't think that is what the game was about, and it was especially not what Kaminari wanted it to be about, so I'm sad that you felt that way." Midori explained as she walked back over to him, "Think about it... Out of everyone she could have chosen, she chose you, me, and everyone else who was there. It was a game of embarrassing questions and actions, but also a game of trust. I'd never of played that game if I didn't trust the people around that table."

"The way I saw it, Kaminari brought the few people she felt closest to together and wanted them to get to know each other. I'm not very close to Captain Koenig, Big Saionji, or his new little lady friend, but after seeing some of the things that happened... and hearing the questions answered so honestly, I still felt closer to them. Don't repeat this to anyone, but Kaminari is feeling very helpless right now. She won't admit it, but the mistake she made to allow herself to get taken while drunk have been eating at her. Tsubine's helping, but there's only so much he can do... I'm sure she figured that bringing her favorite people together would be her way of saying sorry and helping them relax..." Midori explained as kindly as she could as she led Kazuo out of the building, "Where'd you want to go for coffee?"

"I understand and it's a shame, but I'll make sure she doesn't pull you into the next one. Me, however, I'll definitely be joining." Midori said with a giggle. The two made their way to the coffee shop and, of course, ordered tea. Midori noticed this too and laughed a bit. "Coffee is too dark, I prefer not dying my organs such an ugly color, so I avoid it. You too, I assume?" she replied. Midori looked around at the others at the shop. She was glad that they opened up this place. There was a time that the Seireitei was just boring. Shinigami trained, did paper work, worked, or slept at home out of boredom. The small market areas and restaurants were a wonderful addition. "I'll do my best to avoid conversation that stemmed from yesterdays event, but I do have one question... I've probably asked it before, but..." Midori just shrugged, "Why are you so protective over your hair? I've recently heard girls coming up with plans to cut a lock... Don't worry, I warned them of the impending doom if they ever touched a hair on your head... It's easier when you explain how you know the ins and outs of their anatomy like you know the back of your own hand, so I doubt they'll follow through... But I am curious. It's lovely and I have to admit, I too have thought of sneaking up and touching, but won't."

Midori chuckled. "Yes, the Saionji Brothers and their hair." His question stumped her. She thought about it for a moment and shook her head, shrugging lightly. "I don't know, honestly. I know a few former Fourth Division members have done something similar to that, but I don't know if it's my style. I like people, but I don't like being a savior." she explained with another shrug, "I don't want to be the person that if I can't make it to you, it's my fault someone died. Those in the Rukongai often act like their problems are everyone else's fault. I know they don't have the most lovely situations, but they're not trying to do anything to change it either. They are a completely different society in comparison to us in the Seireitei and they often think we need to babysit them... I'm not a babysitter." Midori sighed and crossed her arms, "I bet that sounds a bit selfish... I know it can be, but I'm a person too. They just don't treat others like it... Anyways," She waved that off, "Have you and your brother always been so close? And I know you idolized him as a boy, but is it the same now? ...If I may give my opinion, I don't think you should. He's a good man, but I prefer a smile and a full name. Hahaha..."

Midori's eyes shined at Kazuo at this point. She put her elbows on the table and her chin in her hands. "Awwww...." she giggled and wiggled in her chair, "That is just too cute. You smiled for him? That is the sweetest thing I've ever heard!" She copied him and took a sip of tea, then returning to her "d'aw" position. She leaned in a bit more when he did. Midori tried imagining Big Saionji being a dumbass and just couldn't, so it made her curious. She could only nod and chuckle about it. "No, no. I love hearing this. It's been a while since we were able to sit and talk, so keep going." Midori nudged him along and continued listening, but was instead asked a question. She thought for a moment about it.

"Kaminari." she said with the dullest expression, "The amount of times I have to drag her in is ridiculous. Then she whines because she 'hates the doctor', I have to pretend I'm offended and then she'll deal with it." Midori just laughed. It took a moment for her to regain her composure. "Other than that, Captain Fujiki and Lieutenant Makabe are on that list. There's one that I wish would skip sometimes, but no... He sees it as a chance to flirt. Of course, I don't mind passing his file off to a nurse sometimes, he'll enjoy the attention." Midori took another sip of her tea and relaxed more. "Since your brother has found his soulmate, what about you? I can't imagine you're alone."

Midori laughed quite a bit and nodded, "Yes, yes I do mean quite literally." When she asked her question, she kept a smile up, but she knew his feelings toward it. She wanted him to open up more and trust he can talk to her about anything. She was his doctor. If she could know whether he's got a growth on his manhood and keep it a secret, she could keep his more personal life a secret as well. Before he spoke up, she did again. "Put the smile back on. I'm single too, ya know? You can trust me not to go blabbing the same way I trust you not to. I understand in a group, but you don't have to feel shy about it with me. There is absolutely nothing embarrassing about your situation." she explained, trying to make him feel a bit better. "So go on... What were you about to say?"

Midori nodded along in agreement as she took a sip of tea. She leaned back in her chair and smiled wider. "Don't worry, your preferences are safe with me." Midori said. She was having fun, a lot more than she had yesterday. "I agree though. Kaminari's a great woman, but even I would prefer someone taller and with larger womanly assets." Midori just laughed. This conversation was so enjoyable that her smile never dropped. His question caused her to look up to the sky and think. "I've... cared for Daigoro Ito for a long time. After he lost who he lost... I can't tell whether I want to be with him or am trying to just fill a hole he has, even if I shouldn't be. I've been wrestling with the thoughts for a while and I can't figure it out. He's a great guy, stupid, a bit thoughtless, but caring..."

"It's a shame... Now that I've gotten closer than I ever have, I'm not sure whether I really wanted it in the first place. I'm stuck in my own limbo, created by the fates of other people..." Midori sighed and rolled her eyes at herself, "One of these days I'll learn not to try and make everyone happy... It's only fucking me over..." She looked off in deep thought for a moment, but came back to Kazuo once the silence went on a little too long. She stared curiously at him for a moment and then sat up straight again. "You got all the more uncomfortable questions yesterday... Why don't you ask me some? Let's see what you've got. It's just you and I, so that should make it easier, right?" She smiled hopefully.

Midori had a certain mindset here. Kazuo was a great friend, one she could open up to and be a little more personal with, sometimes even more so than Kaminari. There was one problem. Kazuo was being smooth and any other woman would have swooned, but Midori sees this man as a noble. To her, he would only  be allowed to be with another noble. It is the common thing of "a prince must marry a princess" and nothing less than that, so the fact that he just asked her out on a date wasn't what went through her mind. However, Midori would love to have dinner with a friend anytime, so she smiled sweetly and nodded, "I'd love that." Unfortunately, she wasn't completely aware of what she agreed to.
